Ellison Bay – Door County – Where you step out of the REAL WORLD and into your own peaceful existence!
This home was built be a renowned Midwestern architect - Steven Wadzinski (1952 – 2006). He was known as a Minimalist and a Modernist, incorporating the conservation of the environment and energy efficiency into every one of his structures. Way before his time, as he did most of his architectural studying in the Scandinavian countries. He modeled a lot of his architectural residences in a style similar to that of Swedish architect Ralph Erskine, known as one of the most imaginative architects in Sweden! Wadzinski often quoted Erskine;
“Life in the villa should take the form of a pulsation:
Out from the central winter cell to spring in the
Verandas and garden, to summer in the forest and
Skerries, and so back through autumn evenings by the
Fire (outdoors), to winter in the warmth of the house,
In the constant rhythm of life in Sweden” - Erskine &
Wadzinski
Much like Scandinavian architecture, our home on Door Bluff Road takes NATURE INTO THE HOUSE! Warmth is captured through the beautiful cherry wood throughout
And every window takes on a unique shape and is strategically placed as a picture frame, framing the natural from the woods outside! Even the outer colors of the home were carefully chosen. The green represents the strikingly
Tall and omnipotent trees; the silver/grey is the solid beauty of the rock that lies all around, and the azure of the bunk house, rallies that of Lake Michigan! Wadzinski proves that the there is a definite link between the outdoor physical and the personal psychological.

The main floor of this breathtaking property is an open space with a beautiful seating area and a baby grand piano; a semi-private bedroom with Queen-sized bed is tucked behind a screen; this bedroom has a private patio. While facing the back (water side) of the house, the entrance to the master bedroom is directly in front of you while the right wall has three doorways and a staircase; one of the doors is to a gorgeous walk-in shower, another is to a full bath with a shower stall, and the third is a stair leading down to the basement.
To go to the master bedroom, you will have to pass through the “bridge room,” a very unique feature to this property. The room is a “bridge” in that when you go outside from the basement, you literally walk under it; it also connects the living area on the main floor to the master bedroom. The “bridge room” is loaded with windows, and has a convertible sofa and sliding doors between the living area and the master bedroom. The master bedroom has a King-sized bed and its own private deck.
Head down to the basement, which opens to a cement pad with a private open-air shower; here you’ll find the only entrance to the Bunk House. The Bunk House is perfect for a group of kids or teens; it is one room with two full bunk beds and a queen bed. It also has its own deck.
The stairway up from the main floor takes you into a spacious open concept kitchen, living area, and dining area (this is the main living area of the house). The second full bath with a bathtub is on this level, along with a half bath; the largest deck at the home is also on this upper level of the home.
