Blackford’s Keep is one of Door County’s hidden treasures!  Enjoy yourself in a secluded paradise on the Northern tip of the Door County Peninsula.  Located just off Highway 42 in Ellison Bay, WI you will find yourself captivated by a beautiful meadow, outlined by tall birch and pines.  The woods abound with wildlife and the vast array of bird houses on the property welcome our feathered friends year round. The cabin is a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. 

Blackford’s Keep features a full kitchen with all the amenities of home and overlooks the great room with a large stone, wood-burning fireplace.  This is definitely a place to sit down, relax and spend time with your family, friends or a good book.  The screened-in front porch and wrap-around deck offer a great view of the meadow by day and the starry skies at night. You can enjoy a bonfire and roast hot dogs or marshmallows fireside.  There is never a lack of things to do, shopping at the local artist hotspots, sitting down to a terrific meal, or skipping stones at the beach.  You may want to charter a fishing boat, take the ferry out to Washington Island, or take a winery tour for the afternoon. We know you will find something for everyone in Door County.

The cabin was designed by Architect/ Artist John Ivar Anderson in the 1980’s. The native-inspired southwest design art in the cabin was hand crafted by John over the years with many items found in and around Door County.  The art and the ambiance add to the beauty and charm Blackford’s Keep will bring to you upon your arrival.  You will also find many items hand-crafted by local artists.  Blackford’s Keep has been an Anderson family retreat for the last 30 years, we love and cherish all that it has to offer.  We know your stay at Blackford’s Keep will bring you peace, tranquility and contentment.  We hope you decide to make Blackford’s Keep your family’s home away from home year after year as we do.
